Derana Music Video Awards 2010

Introduction to the Awards:
Derana Music Video awards 2007 created a landmark in the Sri Lankan music industry being the first of its kind. It set standards in mega events with its production values, stage settings, lighting and live performances. The Top 10 Sri Lankan chart busting artists gave some mind blowing acts seem first time by the audience in that scale. The theme song which featured all these artists became the No 1 single in many charts. The award became a platform to honor young and talented technicians who took the centre stage with the popular artists for the very first time. 17 technical awards and one popular award (chosen through a SMS campaign lasting 3 months) were given away that night and all these videos all still remain landmarks in Video productions. After the grand success of the first Derana Music Video Awards in the 2007, TV Derana is all ready to host its second one, the much awaited and the most glamorous event of the year, Derana Music Video Awards 2010. This will be the biggest show to hit the Sri Lankan music scene. Musicians from all over the country will gather to celebrate and honor music and brilliance in technical styles. The Award will be exclusively for the songs which have been visualized into music videos, and the technicians behind - the Director, Cinematographer, Art Director, Choreographer, Editors and many more who have worked to make the music videos what it is will be awarded for their work.

Applications for 2010

Videos produced after January 2008 till April 2010 will be taken into consideration. The musicians will be able to nominate their videos for the awards through an application giving in all details of their production. The awards will be given in different categories from pop to hip hop to alternative to popular awards, a detailed list of the categories are given below.
An experienced panel of judges which includes directors,
cinematographers, choreographers, music directors will give in the
final verdict for the awards. Top 10 Videos will go in for SMS and
on-line voting. Sri Lankans will be able to vote for their favorite
Video and the artist on the grand finale live and exclusive. The other
awards will be pre-decided by the judges.
